HOSA is a national student organization that offers a specialized program focusing on leadership development, motivation, and recognition for students in the health and biomedical sciences fields. It caters to secondary, postsecondary, collegiate, and adult students who are preparing for future roles in healthcare.

HOSA’s competitive events program, designed in accordance with the National Healthcare Foundation Standards, aids students in becoming ready for careers and college by providing six event categories: health science, health professions, emergency preparedness, leadership, teamwork, and recognition. Through 55 competency-based events, teachers can utilize various teaching methods, rubrics, and assessments to enhance student learning and engagement.

HOSA acknowledges the value of equipping students with skills that go beyond the technical aspects required for the healthcare field. The organization plays a crucial role in preparing students not only for higher education but also for entry-level certifications such as EMT, CNA, pharmacy technician, and more. In a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, competent and compassionate individuals are needed who can fulfill leadership roles or provide support within healthcare teams.
